New treatment options for cancer

A new system of treating cancer using heat has been developed by the BSD Medical Corporation and has been approved for clinical use in the USA. The BSD-2000 delivers focused and targeted heat energy to the malignant tumour.

This new hyperthermic device allows the consultant to apply heat locally to a tumour using radio frequency as an advanced form of radiotherapy. It is thought that this new treatment option for most forms of cancer will be most useful in cervical cancer and will be especially beneficial in patients who are ineligible for or become unwell during chemotherapy.
