It has long been known that vitamin D is essential for strong bones and teeth however recent research suggests that it plays a much wider role in keeping us healthy. Deficiencies in vitamin D have been shown in large parts of our population and this is not good news as it can lead to weak bones and in extreme cases the disease known as rickets or osteomalacia.
