Types of hernias

There are two main categories of hernias: those of the groin and those of the midline.  

Groin hernias

There are two types of groin hernia:

Femoral - appears as a lump just above and to the side of the pubic bone
Inguinal - usually appears as a lump just below and to the side of the pubic bone
