As we reach our forties and fifties, the ongoing changes in the natural lens of our eye cause us to hold items further and further away in order to see them clearly. Until recently the condition - presbyopia, has been impossible to treat with more traditional techniques such as laser eye surgery. However, a state-of-the-art implantable lens, which was originally developed to treat cataracts, is now offering fresh hope to the millions of people reliant on glasses for distance vision and to read and see close-up objects clearly.
