Medical Qualifications

Mr Philip Stott qualified from Guy’s and St Thomas’s medical schools in 1996. After teaching in Bristol University he completed his post graduate surgical training mainly in and around London.   He was awarded a DPhil (PhD equivalent) from Sussex University in 2007, and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2007.   He has had 2 years of fellowship training in New Zealand and St George’s hospital, London.

Medical Experience

Mr Stott specializes in treating conditions of the hip and pelvis.  His approach is that there is not a ‘one size fits all’ recipe book for patients.  He treats people with hip and pelvic problems from around the South East. He started the Enhanced Recovery Programme in Brighton, which has led to a decrease in the complication rate and length of stay in Brighton and Haywards Heath Hospitals.  He takes pride in his reputation for good quality surgery and patient interactions with a low complication rate.  He also started the Brighton and Haywards Heath Pelvic and Acetabular Fracture Unit and the Hip Arthroscopy Service.  He treats complex Joint Infections and has significant experience treating the fallout from Metal on Metal Hip Replacements. He has pioneered a method of abductor muscle reconstruction which many other surgeons now use. He performs over 400 hip procedures per year.
