Vitamin D supplements may be more useful than expensive cancer drugs

Vitamin D supplements may be more successful at extending the survival rates of some cancer patients than novel drugs a leading cancer specialist has suggested. Professor Angus Dalgleish, a Consultant Oncologist at St George’s Hospital in south-west London, tests the vitamin D levels of all of his cancer patients and prescribes supplements when they are found to be low.

Professor Dalgleish says that in his view expensive new drugs often give little benefit to cancer patients whereas Vitamin D provides a real benefit.
