Severe premenstrual syndromeThe combination of physical and emotional symptoms that occur in many women in the week or so before menstruation. is characterised by psychological and behavioural symptoms caused by biochemical changes in the body following ovulation. Sometimes symptoms are so painful and prolonged that a woman may only get seven pain free days a month.
